How do I make the flash filesystem writable

Answer

This can be done with the following commands:

  • umount /mnt/mtd3
  • mount -t jffs2 /dev/mtdblock3 /mnt/mtd3

You should now be able to modify files on the jffs2 mount /mnt/mtd3. Once you're finished modifying the files you need please remember to unmount and mount as read-only again with the following commands:

  • umount /mnt/mtd3
  • mount /mnt/mtd3

This is required in case the unit loses power. If the JFFS2 mount is read-only it will not get corrupted. In the case where it is mounted as writable a loss of power can cause corruption.
